At the lastest CPAC meeting, Cindy Pearson from DCPS wanted to remind everyone that school will be back in session on August 10, and so to plan on more traffic and student pedestrians around school time again soon.
Along with this, she wanted to remind everyone that the School Bus Stop-Arm Camera Violation Program is now in effect. Under Florida State Statute 316.172, motorists are required to stop when a school bus extends its stop arm and activates its flashing red lights. Motorists who fail to stop for a school bus will be subject to a $225 monetary fine in accordance with Florida law. Video footage of all stop-arm violations will be reviewed by School Police to confirm if a violation occurred, prior to a citation being issued. More info here:
